Blow Up 317- The Long Goodbye - History of Gold - Subatomic decay patterns and neutron star

Kysa Johnson
2017
Ink on high gloss on board
72.0048.00

Kysa Johnson is an American painter who states “my work has always been about patterns in nature.... the ‘landscapes’ of the microcosmic and macrocosmic.” Drawing from recent scientific developments, such as string theory, the mapping of the subatomic decay of particles, and the burgeoning field of gravitational wave study, Johnson creates new more meaningful connections between the viewer and the invisible universe. Johnson breaks down the stiff, unemotive, scientific deduction of reality and replaces it with a more intuitive, emotive, even awe-filled understanding of the cosmos. Johnson was schooled in Glasgow, Scotland, has exhibited regularly in both the United States and the UK, and was the recipient of a Pollock Krasner grant in 2009.
